Clarence M. Sletten, son of Martin O. Sletten and Martha Larson, was born in Chancellor, Turner County, South Dakota on February 11, 1895.  He moved with his parents and siblings to Norway Township, Winnebago County, Iowa before July 1899. 

Clarence was still a single man when he registered for the draft on June 5, 1917.  He was 22 years old with an address of Scarville, Iowa.  He was a natual-born citizen born in Chancellor, S. Dak. USA.  He was farming for himself in Norway township.  He was a Caucasian of medium height and medium build with dark brown eyes and black hair.  He was not bald.
Amanda Margaret Rogness, daughhter of Ole Tjerandsen Rogenes and Josephine Helmikka Oddsdotter Bjelland, was born on June 15, 1894 in Thor, Humboldt County, Iowa.  She was baptized on July 1, 1894, at Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor.

December 24, 1917 - Clarence and Amanda were married in Emmons, Freeborn County, Minnesota.

March 30, 1919 - Their first child, Clarice Arlone, was born in Norway Township, Winnebago County, Iowa.  She was baptized at Lime Creek Lutheran Church.

January 21, 1920 - The Sletten family was living in Norway Township, Winnebago County, Iowa.

  • Clarence, 24 years old, was born in South Dakota, could read, write, and speak English and was farming.
  • Amanda, 25 years old, was born in Iowa, could read, write, and speak English.
  • Clarice, age 3/4, was born in Iowa.

November 5, 1920 - Robert Shirley was born in Norway Township, Winnebago County, Iowa.  He was baptized at Lime Creek Lutheran Church.

May 14, 1924 - Marcus Delmaine was born in Norway Township, Winnebago County, Iowa. 

July 6, 1924 - Marcus Delmaine was baptized at Lime Creek Lutheran Church.

January 1925 - The Sletten family was still living in Norway Township, Winnebago County, Iowa.  They were all affiliated with the Lutheran Church.

  • Clarence was 29, had lived in Iowa 29 years, completed the 5th grade, and was born in S. Dakota.  Clarence's father was Martin Sletten who was born in Wis and was 62 years old.  Clarence's mother was Martha Larson who was born in Iowa and was 54 years old.  Martin and Martha were married in S. Dakota.  Clarence was engaged in agricultural pursuits.
  • Amanda was 30, had lived in Iowa 30 years, completed the 7th grade, and was born in Iowa.  Amanda's father was Ole Rogness who was born in Norway and was 68 years old.  Amanda's mother was Josephine Bjelland who was born in Norway and was 61 years old.  Ole and Josephine were married in Norway.  Amanda was engaged in domestic and personal services.
  • Clarice was 5, had lived in Iowa 5 years, and was born in Iowa.  Clarice's father was Clarence Sletten who was 29 years old.  Clarice's mother was Amanda Rogness who was born in Iowa and was 30 years old.  Clarence and Amanda were married in Minn.
  • Robbert was 4, had lived in Iowa 4 years, and was born in Iowa.  Robert's father was Clarence Sletten who was 29 years old.  Robert's mother was Amand Rogness who was born in Iowa and was 30 years old.  Clarence and Amanda were married in Minn.
  • Delmain was 1, had lived in Iowa 8 months, and was born in Iowa.  Delmaine's father was Clarence Sletten who was 29 years old.  Delmaine's mother was Amand Rogness who was born in Iowa and was 30 years old.  Clarence and Amanda were married in Minn.

June 28, 1928 - Beverly June was born in Norway Township, Winnebago County, Iowa.  She was baptized at Lime Creek Lutheran Church.

April 8, 1930 - The Sletten family rented a farm in Norway Township, Winnebago County, Iowa.  They did not own a radio. 

  • Clarence was 35 years old and had been married at the age of 22.  He could read and write.  Clarence was born in South Dakota, his father in Wisconsin, and his mother in Iowa.  He was farming a general farm and was not a veteran.
  • Amanda was 35 years old and had been married at the age of 23.  She could read and write.  Amanda was born in Iowa and her father and mother in Norway.
  • Clarice was 11 years old, had attended school within the year, and could read and write.  Clarice was born in Iowa, her father in South Dakota, and her mother in Iowa.
  • Robert was 9 years old and had attended school within the year.  Robert was born in Iowa, his father in South Dakota, and his mother in Iowa.
  • Delmaine was 5 years old.  He was born in Iowa, his father in South Dakota, and his mother in Iowa.
  • Beverly was 9/12 years old.  She was born in Iowa, her father in South Dakota, and his mother in Iowa.

1942 - Del graduated from Scarville High School in Scarville, Winnebago County, Iowa.

April 20, 1944 - Del enlisted in the Army.

Clarice is still living.

Bob

Bob married Doris Virginia Erickson on April 18, 1942, in Hannaford, Griggs County, North Dakota.

Doris was born on March 19, 1923, in Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota.  Her parents were Hjalmer Erickson and Hildgard Platzer.  

On September 9, 1944, Bob enlisted in the Army at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. 

Bob passed away on July 24, 1995, in Brush Prairie, Clark County, Washington.  He was buried in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Vancouver, Clark County, Washington on July 25, 1995. 

Doris died on August 31, 1996, in Brush Prairie, Clark County, Washington.  She was buried in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Vancouver, Clark County, Washington on September 7, 1996. 

Bob and Doris had three children, two of whom are still alive, and a daughter Bonnie Jean (July 20, 1943 - February 2, 1975) who married Ronald William Moore on July 22, 1961.  They had five children.

Illena was born August 2, 1932, in Albert Lea, Freeborn County, Minnesota.  Her parents were Hemme Henrichs and Kate Sloter

Del passed away on July 13, 1994, in Hayward, Freeborn County, Minnesota.  He was buried in Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea on July 16, 1994. 

Illena is still living.

Del and Illena had three children, all of whom are still alive.
